Hillsboro Community Foundation

HCF Past, Present, & Future

Each generation, with leadership and vision, has helped shape the future for those who follow. The Hillsboro Community Foundation (HCF) champions this deep-rooted community spirit and supports the many organizations that make Hillsboro the place we treasure.

As Hillsboro has transformed, one core value has remained central in our planning and development: enhancing the quality of life in our shared community. From arts and culture to education and libraries, public health and safety, environmental preservation, and parks, the people of Hillsboro have shown commitment and a deep-rooted dedication to community livability that we can all be proud of.

The idea of a community foundation blossomed from the work of the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce in the early 80s under the leadership of Robert (Bob) Herb. The committee comprised City and community leaders who regularly gathered to address pressing community issues.

In l986, the Hillsboro Community Foundation was formally established and received its IRS designation as a 501(c)(3) public charity. Since then, HCF has quietly and effectively facilitated philanthropy and helped fund numerous points of pride for our community.

Our Role

In fulfilling its mission, the Hillsboro Community Foundation primarily serves to:

Promote the needs of the Hillsboro community as an ambassador,

Raise awareness about the role of philanthropy in achieving community goals,

Create and manage donor-directed charitable funds in support the many varied community organizations, programs, and events that bring Hillsboro to life while ensuring that the Foundation is a sustainable, viable organization that delivers on our mission effectively.

Our Foundation is crucial in connecting donors to community causes they care about. We inspire and motivate potential donors by showing them the impact they can make on the organizations, projects, and programs that meet their philanthropic goals.
