In response to the City of Hillsboro’s recent declaration of community needs, the Hillsboro Community Foundation (HCF) announced the reactivation of its Community Emergency Relief Initiative to provide timely support to local nonprofits assisting residents facing economic and social challenges across Hillsboro and Washington County.
The initiative focuses on urgent community needs, including access to food, housing stability, utilities, childcare, healthcare, and service navigation. HCF is contributing $40,000 to Bienestar to address homelessness and rental assistance needs. In existence since 1981, Bienestar was chosen due to its long history of building housing, hope, and community for Latinxs, immigrants, and families in need, providing affordable homes and vital support to combat poverty and discrimination.
“This initiative reflects our role as a community foundation — to listen, convene, and respond when our community is facing uncertainty,” said Cristina Bowerman, Executive Director of HCF. “By working alongside nonprofit partners and other funders, we aim to strengthen families, stabilize households, and support the overall well-being of our community.”
HCF will coordinate with city, county, and regional partners to ensure resources are directed where they are most needed and to complement existing public and private efforts. Community members can contribute to the Community Relief Fund online or by mailing a check made payable to the Hillsboro Community Foundation, PO Box 808, Hillsboro, OR 97123, with “Community Relief” noted in the memo line. Donations made to HCF are tax-deductible.
In existence since 1986, the Hillsboro Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Hillsboro by supporting local programs, services, and initiatives.
