The Hillsboro Community Foundation (HCF) has awarded $22,150 to Raíces de Bienestar to expand access to culturally responsive mental health services for individuals and families facing increasing social and economic pressures within the City of Hillsboro.
The grant is part of HCF’s reactivated Community Emergency Relief Initiative, launched in response to the City of Hillsboro’s recent declaration of community needs. Through this initiative, HCF is directing resources to trusted nonprofit partners addressing urgent concerns including housing stability, food access, healthcare, and mental health services.
Raíces de Bienestar provides whole-family mental health support, including individual and family therapy, care coordination, resource navigation, safety planning, and school collaboration. On average, clients participate in approximately 22 one-to-one therapy sessions. The organization also connects individuals and families to housing assistance, food resources, insurance enrollment, substance use treatment, domestic violence services, psychiatric care, and primary care providers.
The funding will help meet rising demand for services and support the organization’s recent clinical team expansion, ensuring individuals, children, youth, adults, and seniors can access care regardless of their ability to pay.
“Mental health support is foundational to a healthy and resilient community,” said Cristina Bowerman, Executive Director of the Hillsboro Community Foundation. “When families are navigating uncertainty and stress, timely access to therapy and coordinated care can make the difference between crisis and stability. This investment is about strengthening households today while helping prevent generational trauma tomorrow.”
HCF will continue coordinating with city, county, and regional partners to ensure resources are directed where they are most needed and complement existing public and private efforts.
Community members who wish to support this work can contribute to HCF’s Community Relief Fund, where 100 percent of proceeds are directed back into the Hillsboro community to address emerging and urgent needs. Donations may be made online at the Hillsboro Community Foundation’s secure giving platform or by mailing a check payable to the Hillsboro Community Foundation, PO Box 808, Hillsboro, OR 97123, with “Community Relief” noted in the memo line. Contributions are tax-deductible.
