The volunteers on our board and committees are key in our efforts to making the Hillsboro community a great place to live, work, and play.

Volunteer Committees and Opportunities

Finance & Investment Committee

This committee is responsible for reviewing and reporting on the Foundation's investments and financials, as well as investment and financial policies. They hold quarterly meetings for 1.5 hours. This committee is a great fit for someone with mid to advanced experience as a bookkeeper, CPA, or tax expert.

Governance Committee

This committee is responsible for nominating board members and officers, as well as overseeing policies and procedures to govern the Foundation. They hold bi-monthly meetings for 1.5 hours. This committee is a great fit for someone with mid- to advanced-level knowledge in corporate or nonprofit governance, law, and human resources.

Scholarship Committee

This committee is responsible for reviewing scholarship applications, interviewing candidates, participating in senior award nights, and other related opportunities. They hold meetings on an as-needed basis, but are primarily active during the spring months for scholarship season. This committee is a great fit for individuals with experience in education, higher education, and who have an understanding of financial aid.

Young Philanthropists Committee

This new committee is aimed at bringing in the voices of younger generations into the philanthropic community of Hillsboro. They will hold quarterly meetings for 1.5 hours. This committee is a great fit for individuals age 25-40 (or so) with interest in community service and outreach, philanthropy, and fundraising.
